RIO VISTA EVENTS UPDATE!

Our Rio Vista neighborhood events calendar is just bursting at the seams this time of year! Seems like there's something fun, important and/or interesting going just about every day..so here's a sampling of what's going on in just our area:
- Tuesday, Feb. 10th: VOTING DAY!
OK...so we've already mentioned it above...but it's important enough to mention again!

- Friday, Feb. 13th: 'Love Is In The Air' at Cafe Amour Dinner Theatre
It's an evening of fun, love and mystery at the Cafe Amour Dinner Theatre on the night before Valentine's Day. At the First Christian Church of Fort Lauderdale, 201 SE 13th Street. Admission: $12.00. 6:30pm. Call 954.523.6456 for tickets or more info!
- Saturday, Feb. 14th: 1st Annual 'WALK/RUN RIO VISTA!'
'Start Your Heart Right!' on Valentine's Day with a free, 'Just for Fun' walk or run (your choice...it's NOT a contest!) around our beautiful neighborhood! Wear your
Valentine's Day red and join your neighbors on Saturday morning, Feb. 14th at
8:00am...it's FREE, fun, kid & dog-friendly with free tee-shirts
and other great free stuff for those who sign up in advance!

Valentine's Day in a 'Heart Healthy' way! - Saturday, Feb. 21st: Annual Rio Vista Camp-Out & 'Carti Gras!'
It's a now-legendary spring ritual in Rio Vista at Virginia Young Park! The festivities kick off at noon-2pm with hot dogs on the grill, followed at 4pm (or thereabouts) by the fun and fabulous 'Carti Gras!' golf cart parade through the neighborhood. After the parade, as the day turns to evening, there's a cook-out in the park followed by an evening of stories 'round the campfire (yes! a real campfire!) and a great breakfast the following morning. - Saturday, Feb. 21st: Admissions Open House at Bethany Christian School
Open House program begins at 10:00am, Saturday morning at this uniquely nurturing school for 2-year-olds through Grade 8 in the heart of Rio Vista. Click here for more!

- During February, our favorite local bookstore, WELL READ, is
sponsoring a variety of author and speaker events.
All are open to the public and free of charge. WELL READ is located at 1374 SE 17th

- Our neighbors and friends over at Riverwalk Trust are in high gear this time of year, as well. Riverwalk Trust, in partnership with the City of Fort Lauderdale, introduces Yoga and Women's Boot Camp along Riverwalk Park. Yoga classes are offered in Esplanade Gazebo at 9am on Mondays, Wednesdays and
Fridays and 10:30am on Saturday. Women's Outdoor Workout (W.O.W) is available
in Huizenga Plaza at 5:15pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and
Thursdays. These classes are an easy way to pump up your fitness, surrounded by

- Speaking of 'wellness', our own local Rio Vista-based wellness center, Thrive Wellness Center, at 1120 S. Federal Hwy., is celebrating 'The Healing Energy of Spring' with an open house every Thursday from 4:30 -7:30 pm beginning Feb. 26th through the first day of Spring! - During February, Broward County Library locations will offer
many special events to commemorate Black History Month, including
book groups and discussions, presentations on African-American genealogy,
films, musical performances, and seminars as well as children's and
teen programs to enrich, enlighten and entertain. Click here for more info!

- As long as we're on the subject of great food, our RIO VISTA! friends Armand & Susan Rocco of Kitchenworks, on 1818 E. Sunrise Blvd., are pleased to announce their partnership in a new, high-end catering business, Dish Culinary. Under the
leadership and vision of Executive Chef Jonas Hägg, Dish Culinary opened its
doors in January in partnership with The Kitchenworks Inc. in downtown Fort
