2009 'PROTECT RIO VISTA' SECURITY PATROL MEMBERSHIP DRIVE UNDERWAY!
Thanks to the 320+ Rio Vista homeowners and residents who participated in our 'Protect Rio Vista!' security patrol, the first year has been a huge success for the entire neighborhood! We're hoping to do even better things in 2009!
For those of you who particpated in our 2008 program...'Thank you!' You already know the benefits and have seen the actual value of being a member in the 'Protect Rio Vista!' program...and we ask for your continuing support by renewing now for our 2009 program.
For those of you who have not yet joined the program we urge you to consider joining us for 2009, as only through greater participation can we offer more patrol hours and ultimately a safer community for everyone in Rio Vista. RVCA SURVEYS - WE NEED YOUR FEEDBACK, PLEASE!
SURVEY/ISSUE #1 - DOGGIE DAY CARE CENTER PROPOSAL
As you will read in this month's RIO VISTA! newsletter, there are plans in the works for a luxurious dog day care, grooming, retail and dog/cat hotel to be established at the site of the former 'Tunnel Tire' property on the southeast corner of S. Federal Hwy. at 6th Ct.

SURVEY/ISSUE #2 - PROPOSED 'NO FISHING' SIGNS FOR RIO VISTA ISLES BRIDGES
As you will also read in this month's RIO VISTA! newsletter, RVCA and the RVCA Security Committee have recently received a number of similar emails over the past few months expressing concern about fishing on the bridges. Based upon review of the calls to the patrol cell phone, it appears to be the number one complaint at this time. Due to safety concerns, the City Attorney has approved 'NO FISHING' signs for each of the Isle bridges. Before proceeding, we want to ensure that there is a consensus in the neighborhood to make each of these bridges 'NO FISHING' bridges. 'WALK RIO VISTA!' EVENT SLATED FOR FEB. 14TH, 2008
Working in association with the Fort Lauderdale Parks and Recreation Department's "Walk Fort Lauderdale" fitness initiative, we will be holding our first "Walk Rio Vista" fitness event on Feb. 14, 2009. All Rio Vista residents (and a guest) are welcome...all ages and fitness levels...as we kick off our 'WALK RIO VISTA!' program with a walk thru our shady streets (you pick your own distance) and end with a get-together in Virginia Young Park. We live in such a beautiful neighborhood - it's the perfect setting for taking "Steps to Fitness!" It's a great activity for your heart...and no better day to take care of your heart (and your loved ones!) than on Valentines Day! We'll have more info for you as we get closer to the event!
Right now...we are looking for any Sports/Fitness/Health-minded individuals to help us put together this first neighborhood fitness program of its kind in Fort Lauderdale! COMMISSIONERS SELECT RITTER AS MAYOR, KEECHL AS VICE MAYOR
At their annual reorganization meeting November 18, Broward
County Commissioners unanimously selected Vice Mayor Stacy Ritter as Mayor and
Commissioner Ken Keechl as Vice Mayor. They will serve a one-year term. Mayor
Ritter succeeds Commissioner Lois Wexler, who served as mayor for the past
